Should I see my massage therapist if I am not in pain?

Massage therapy is a great solution when you want relief pain, but it can also be used as a preventive treatment too. Seeing your massage therapist regularly can help to calm and relax your body, loosen tight muscles, increase blood flow and improve circulation.

Why do massage therapists recommend a bath with epsom salts after?

Epsom salts is a naturally occurring mineral salt that is a compound of magnesium and sulfate. In water, these salts break down and in theory when you soak in them, they are absorbed through your skin. Magnesium plays the role in helping muscle contractions where it acts as natural calcium blocker to help the muscles relax. Other benefits that are linked to epsom salt baths include calming your nervous system, alleviating skin problems, healing minor cuts, and easing colds and congestion.

What should I expect from my first session?

On your first visit you will complete an intake form prior to the appointment. This information is key to your therapist to help them build a personalized treatment plan. It is important to inform your therapist of any medical conditions, injuries, and medications that are present in order to help you to achieve your health goals.

Do I have to completely undress for the treatment?

NO! This is the most common question that is asked and makes clients nervous prior to the treatment. Only remove clothing that makes you comfortable. If you are unsure, start by talking to your therapist and discuss your treatment goals, this will help you understand if techniques are to complete over your clothing, or skin on skin contact with oils.
